John Teerlinck ~ Passed Away 05-10-20

Dear Fellow Leathernecks: Former WIU All-American and Hall of Famer, and long time NFL Assistant Coach, John Teerlinck passed away yesterday. He was 69 years of age. At this time, the exact cause of death is not known. I know John struggled with weight issues for a number of years later in his NFL c...

I agree! But, this is exactly what the program needs to do. In fact, it has to. Can the current coaching staff achieve this goal. I do not think so.

Re: Football Attendance

Yes, 21-20!!!! I have three wonderful memories of the 1973 season. Opening night, not sure who we played but it was the first real date my wife and I ever had. It turned out that it was a "win win" situation, Then, I broke up with a girl from Miami of Ohio who I had been seeing before I m...

Re: Football Attendance

So parent's weekend, 1971, Ball State game! Its when I was hooked on WIU Football! Final Score - 20-19. I know that game came down to the final moments and my sister and I were right their at the goal line as WIU pulled a huge win out. I also remember getting beat up by Akron that year which hurt a...

Re: Football Attendance

BobLovely, got my first experience at Hanson the fall of 1971. Opening night, large crowd, and a brand-new expanded east side which was replaced by the nice stands and concessions that we have now. No matter what, I really think that Hanson Field is a great venue to watch college football. I think ...

Re: Football Attendance

Attendance at our football games is a pathetic embarrassment and nothing less. I began attendance of football games at Hanson Field in September of 1969. Overall, attendance at football games was good to excellent through at least 2010. So, what has happened? A perfect storm of events? Perhaps! Thes...

Re: 2019 Week 12 - Western Illinois vs Southern Illinois

I would love to see a victory against SIU but I do not see this happening. I see us losing the next (2) games with a 1-11 finish. A true embarrassment for this program...

Re: 2019 Week 11 - Western Illinois at North Dakota State

No surprise in the outcome of this game. I still feel the same way as I did about this coaching staff. I suspect we will finish the season at 1-10. However, I would still love to see a win over Southern Illinois. Does anyone know what the over/under is on 1,000 fans in attendance at Hanson Field on ...

Re: 2019 Week 10 - Western Illinois vs South Dakota

Oddly enough, this may be an opportunity for Western to actually win a game. With a visiting "dome team" playing in cold weather, we have the opportunity to pull off an upset if this team can play some consistent and determined football. Emotionally, they have nothing to lose. The season i...
