Re: vs South Dakota

1st time really seeing WIU play this year and I haven't seen the whole game, but from what I've seen, WIU doesn't even try to get an offensive rebound. They just stand there or run back down the court. Currently down 6 in the 2nd half. We have not O-rebounded for the last decade. Both MO and Billy ...

Re: vs South Dakota

Not sure how they did it, but a big road win foe the Necks. I didn't understand why at the end they still have Gilbeck in when they were fouling since he isn't a great free throw shooter. Most teams do the offense/defense things with player subs. The girl doing the color on the broadcast was a stunn...

Re: New Direction

Another name to throw out as a possibility would be Geoff Alexander, he is currently an assistant coach on Brad Underwood's staff, and a former WIU player.

Re: Who's been the best AD?

Honestly don't know about the Ad's before Smiley but she is the obvious choice for me had some of the most successful teams under her leadership. The only thing I will give TVA is he did have some good hires. I wondered if Smiley might be a popular pick. I agree TVA had good hires but didn't seem p...

Re: New Direction

Also who hired Billy, was it Tommy Bell? If I remember right didn't they pretty much just hire Billy without doing a coaching search or were there other candidates or finalists?

Re: New Direction

Women's success started with bringing in a D2 head coach with an up-tempo style game. It is NOT exciting to watch a 40-38 win. It IS exciting to watch a 98-96 win. Heck, it is even more exciting to watch a 98-96 loss than to watch a 40-38 win. So please, do not go back to a Coach Mo offensive. Take...

Re: New Direction

Crazy idea (and yet WIU did it in soccer... and golf...and track & field)... hand the reigns over to JD and Seth. Let them be basketball operations for both squads. We at least know those 2 can coach and develop players. I understand that there are a multitude of reasons why that wouldn't work,...

Who's been the best AD?

Anybody care to chime in on who they think the best AD WIU has had? I'm not sure myself just wondered what others think. You can go back as far as you want I guess and it is subjective. You could think they were good because of the hires they made or because of the fundraising part of the job. Like ...

Re: New Direction

Billy is a great guy that makes a great assistant coach, but not a head coach. Time to move on! This is brutal to watch. Tough shots, not very many assists, and getting beat (outcoached) everytime after a break in the action. Teams fire winning coaches all the time. Why is it so difficult to move o...
