In Sunday's double-header, South Dakota State won the first game 13-7. Western won the second game 9-6. Western takes the series two games to one.

Weather: Cloudy, 67.

Attendance at South Dakota State = 345.

Western will be home on Tuesday for a 1PM game vs the Iowa Hawkeyes. There is no special promotion for this game. That is surprising. Not only is it the last home game of the season, but it also with a Big Ten opponent. The 1PM start-time does make it convenient for fans to take Amtrak to the game: morning train down and evening train back up.

Current Summit League standing with one weekend left in the regular season:
Oral Roberts 22-5
South Dakota State 14-10
Western Illinois 12-11
North Dakota State 12-13
Omaha 9-15
Fort Wayne 6-21

So the Necks were oh so close against Iowa and now they get their chance against Kansas! Would love to see a win over the JayHawks going into the tournament. For once it seems that any of the four teams that are playing for the title have a chance to win it. I am happy with this coaching staff and the progress WIU is making. It is never about how you start but always about how you finish. Would love to see a .500 start next year with this type of conference record. It would finally end the rebuilding cycle! ;) jc
