Baseball actually won their first game on Friday. That was a 4-3 win over Evansville in 13 innings.

Today's 3-0 win over Evansville now makes the Western record 2-8.

The four-game series with Evansville was played in Emerson, Georgia where the weather was 40 degrees. It was warmer in Macomb! Attendance was 172.

The home season starts on Friday (March 13) with a three-game series with IPFW.

Oh yea, it was warmer here, but the baseball field is a swamp. Think the athletics department would spring for canoes for the outfielders ;)

The home-opening series with IPFW may have to be moved to Lenz Field in Jacksonville, IL due to the soggy field at Western.

This "swamp" in the baseball field has been a problem for years. Isn't there any one at WIU who can figure out this issue. Isn't it embarrassing to move a D1 game to a community field in another city in order to play a game? I doubt if Jacksonville had any less snow or moisture than Macomb.
