So, Softball is currently 9-13 and had a solid win over Memphis yesterday, but the big news was that sophomore pitcher Emily Ira was named the Summit League Player of the Week after 40 strikeouts, 1 walk, and 2 earned runs over 23 innings, including setting the school record for strikeouts in a game with 19 against Oakland a few days ago.

Good squad with some tough luck losses. Believe 9 of their 13 are by 1 run, so if they start clicking on offense they could win themselves a conference championship.

Ira is a stud, she will probably set a lot of records at WIU before she is done. She was in the University of Iowa's backyard and they missed out on her, which was good for WIU.

Watched the SB team for four innings today in Ames in the cold, rain and wind. I left when there was a 30 minute rain delay. Ended up losing first game 10-6. Looks like lots of young talent and a pitcher recruit from Huxley, just South of Ames was there today.

Tough 2 days for the Ladies. Lost in extra innings 4-3 in Saturday's first game, and then lost the second with a bang bang play at the plate after a rbi single with the bases loaded and two outs. Gotta stay aggressive as far as I am concerned. This has been a season of so many 1 run games, one more hit, one less error, one more out, crap, one more win in conference and the Necks are Summit League Champs. 20 wins so far this season with more to come! Real good chance to make the championship game this year. Our best pitcher is a sophomore, and we have more pitching help coming via recruiting. There are also some pitchers on roster that hopefully will step up big time! ;) jc
