McPherson won the game and advanced to tltle game. I watched first half. Ben was the best player on the court without a doubt but there are a lot of buts. Right now, he plays very much like a Dalan Ancrum (long, lean, some PG tendencies, good stroke from range, good court awareness, not blessed with a lot of lateral quickness to stay in front of people). Billy will have a tough decision as to which direction to take him. IMO, I would redshirt him and put 20 lbs of muscle on him, improve agility, and make him the next John Konchar in the league, sort of guy who does a little bit of everything very well.

McPherson lost title game to Bishop Miege. Ben had a good first half (17 points) and ended with 22. McPherson was in zone with Ben in the middle to combat the size of Miege (they had a 6-9 guy name Robinson-Earl who is ranked high nationally and will probably be a JayHawk when he graduates next year). IMO, Ben will have to work his butt off to improve his defensive skills to be a major impact player at this level.

Pretty much. Coach Wright was an assistant coach there from '01-'06 and then HC there from '06-'08. 10 years removed from coaching there, but with Coach Wright being from Indiana, coaching at Ben Davis HS (also in Indy area) then Pike, and also spending a year at Ball State just up the road from Indy between stints here at WIU...I'm sure he knows a few people there.

Wright still needs to land another CC3 or Covington talent. Hopefully with a couple of scholarships still open, he can work his magic. We could have a good nucleus with a solid guard and still developing center.

However, it is hard to recruit real D1 talent with a less than stellar record over the past few years.

Please not another Covington really need a stretch 4 need another jack or little Mike who were really good shooter and also underrated defenders.
