Omaha went after him and got an early verbal commit but they reneged and wanted him to redshirt a year AND PAY HIS OWN WAY. Idiotic recruiting IMO. They probably don't make that mistake in hockey.meganeck wrote:Seen that Alex O'Neil, a 6'9" F from Peoria Christian had 21pts, 15 rbs, 5 blks last night and he is unsigned. Not sure if he is a D1 talent but nice size and nice numbers
I have only year-old video to go on but he looks to be a very prototypical Summit big man along the lines of Rostampour (Omaha) and Joe Reed (IPFW). Long way from Larson (SDSU) type athleticism but I saw on another board that he is a "young" senior and still growing a bit so who knows.
Question for the recruiting experts: Does a kid usually come in knowing whether or not he will likely redshirt?
Embrace the pace of the race.
According to his High School Coach, James Claar 6'8" F, from Plainfield East (IL) has committed to WIU. We do need some bigs so he should help.
Be interesting to see if we sign anyone else because from what I can tell there should only be 2 schollies available, unless someone leaves.

Welcome aboard James. May you become that instant impact big guy that we definitely need right now.vatusay wrote:http://www.prephoopsillinois.com/news_a ... id=1555808
