Previously mentioned Mike Ross from Montini HS (Lombard, IL) has verbally committed. The 2017 recruits spreadsheet has been updated.

Noticed an offer out for Nick Easley, a 6'0", 200lb WR at Iowa Western CC in Council Bluffs, IA.

If I remember correctly, Iowa Western CC is one of those JUCOs that's known for bringing in some REALLY good players who may have had academic issues or want to make their way up to the FBS level without completely sitting out for a season. For example, IWCC is where Andrew Van Ginkel (the very talented freshman D-lineman at USD last year) went to so that he could play and re-open recruiting for FBS schools. He accepted an offer for Wisconsin for next year, so it apparently worked out good for him.

Anyway, Easley also has an offer from SIU.

It's been a bit since I posted this, but for easy reading, here are all the verbals that I've seen so far. If I missed any, please let me know (just verbals, not guys who have just received offers...that'd be a much bigger list).

It includes DT Luke Terrill from Lebanon, IN (LN57 mentioned him in another thread).

Is anyone else concerned about the lack of commits so far.

This offseason HC Charlie Fisher and staff need to hit the recruiting trail on the South Side which includes the South Side of Chicago, The South Suburbs and South West Suburbs hard.

The Southwest Suburban Conference (used to be split up between Red & Blue) was merged into one giant conference for the 2016 season; 2 teams moved out and a whole bunch moved in....The Conference (Red Version had 8 teams in 2015). Now it's a whopping 13 teams for football in 2016 into one giant super conference which means ya can't play everyone since there are only 9 regular season games and teams typically schedule 2 non conference games per year. This conference has some powerful teams and for public schools in Illinois it's similar to the MVFC as this conference sent 7 teams to the IHSA playoffs. Teams from this conference have won state championships over the past 10 - 15 years. Gotta get some of these kids to commit to WIU instead of SIU, ISU Redbirds, EIU, etc.

Gotta get more kids from East Suburban Catholic, Chicago Catholic Blue, Chicago Public League, as well as others from the South Side. The WR from SIU that torched WIU yesterday played at a H.S. in what is now the SWSC (Southwest Suburban Conference).

Yes we all know that all kids would love an FBS scholarship, but that ain't gonna happen. That's where WIU needs to step it up. Some kids will jump on scholarship and commit to an FCS school in their home state before playing at their lone FBS scholarship offer from a team in a non-power 5 conference than can be thousands of miles away from home.

IHSA conference standings for 2016 in case anyone is interested http://www.ihsa.org/SportsActivities/Bo ... onfall.htm

Lets go Leathernecks!! 8-)

Just picked up a verbal commitment from this kid:
Isaiah Cherrier, RB/SS from Mound, MN (Mound Westonka HS), 6'0", 205lbs

Looks like he's done quite a bit on kick returns as well.

Couple of quick updates on Isaiah Cherrier. He can play both sides of the ball as well as special teams kick returns. He was recently voted 1st Team All-State in Minnisota at DB: http://m.news8000.com/2016-minnesota-ap ... l/42657378

He's also playing in a HS All-star game this weekend (and wearing some Leatherneck gear):

Sorry, another update on Isaiah Cherrier....make it 3 state all-state teams.
http://westonka-activities.com/%3Fp%3D61527

You can check out his stats in the article, but he's apparently a phenomenal athlete on all sides of the ball. I think the only thing he didn't actually do was kick.
Cherrier led the White Hawks in almost every statistical category in 2016. He finished the season with 736 yards rushing, averaging 7 yards per carry, and 10 rushing touchdowns. He also had 15 receptions for 324 yards and 6 receiving touchdowns. On defense, Cherrier had 46 tackles, 7 tackles for loss, 2 QB sacks, 2 interceptions, 5 pass deflections, and returned 2 fumbles for touchdowns. He also averaged almost 37 yards per punt return with 3 TD’s.
