Ok, there's a few offers in here, so I'm not actually going to embed their tweets, I'll just link to them.

James Jackson, OLB from Cretin-Derham Hall in St. Paul, MN, 6'2", 220lbs
Also has offers from South Dakota State, Youngstown State, Northern Iowa, North Dakota, and Wyoming

Brent Carter, CB/WR from Lowndes HS in Valdosta, GA, 5'10", 175lbs
https://www.hudl.com/profile/3931524/brent-carter
https://twitter.com/thekingdinero

Dylan Boles, DE/G from Van Meter HS in Van Meter, IA, 6'4", 253lbs
http://www.hudl.com/profile/4186326/dylan-boles

Looks like a very smart kid, got offers from a good chunk of the Ivy League schools (Penn, Yale, Brown, Dartmouth) as well as Army, Navy, a handful of good DII schools, SDSU and Lamar....oh, and he's been accepted (academically) to Stanford (and has some promise of a walk-on spot...no guarantee that he'll go there though). Hasn't committed anywhere yet.

Octaveious Miles, G/T from Brother Rice HS in Bloomfield Hills, MI, 6'6", 295lbs
http://www.hudl.com/profile/3407438/octaveious-miles
https://twitter.com/octaveious

And there's some others that we're very interested in as well...ones that I think we have offers out for, but haven't posted anything to their twitter pages yet. I'll be keeping an eye on things...kinda a big time right now for offers and verbal agreements (in case you hadn't noticed).

I agree, it's that time of year where recruiting seems to be going full swing. As an Illini fan as well, I'm happy to hear Lovie corralling some verbals from prospects with impressive offer lists. I know that's a different level and the media coverage/analysis is greater, but I'd be interested if Scott or anyone else could provide some objective insight as to how recruiting is going for WIU so far this year. Are we beating out other MVFC teams (or other high level FCS competition) for our signees thus far? Are we losing some recruiting battles right now? Any prospects that are being targeted or have committed so far that really appear to be "priorities"? What verbal number are we at and where do they want to be by signing day?

Like with most college football recruiting classes, we really won't know how good it is for another few years. The paradox, though, is a poor first recruiting cycle for a new staff typically snowballs, which is a frightening perspective for a fanbase that was promised to be reloading and not rebuilding. Any insight would be welcomed and I hope the 2017 class can be the one that leads us to a NC!

I haven't been following twitter as closely since I'm on break right now. That's great to have a commitment from him...he's apparently one of the best QBs in central IN/Indy area.

I knew about this guy for a while, but had to lay off posting until he made it official...

Lucas Holder, 6'4" and 295lb O-lineman, grad transfer from Liberty University
Started all but the final game last year for Liberty. Was named 2nd-Team All-Conference in the Big South last year as well as receiving their Scholar-Athlete of the Year award: http://bigsouthsports.com/news/2016/11/ ... h=football
He's a very smart kid and will be working on an MBA while playing his final year of eligibility for us. Already has two degrees from Liberty.
Also had offers from Stephen F. Austin, East Tennessee State, and Duquesne.

Wow very impressive...

I'm not sure about grad transfers, occasionally bringing one or two in a year is alright for glaring weaknesses, but hopefully not too many

Verbal commit from James Bailey Jr.
6'0", 205lbs, from William Chrisman High School in Independence, MO
He's a fast kid, will probably play RB. He had interest from UNI (for football) and actually had a D1 scholarship offer to Southeast Louisiana for Track.

Interesting pick up. His speed might be second to his power and explosiveness - apparently excels in the shot and discus. Looking in the old crystal ball, could we be seeing some wildcat from this kid?
