While Sean McGuire did not get in the Grey Cup game as a quarterback, he is the Winnipeg holder for PAT's and Field Goals. So he did get to play in the game.

For those that aren't aware, Sean McGuire and Olivia Kaufmann got engaged.

Idk if this means he's done playing for Winnipeg, or if this is just something he can do in the offseason, but McGuire is going to be working with Jeff Trickey Quarterback Camp this summer:

It looks like Sean is getting the starting job this weekend for Winnipeg. I think they have their playoff spot pretty much locked up (they're 11-1 and the next best teams are at 8-4), so they're giving some of their 2nd string a shot (McGuire is listed as the #2 QB). I did notice that Sean seems to be put in a lot on goal line scenarios...not to pass, but to run it into the end zone. He actually leads the entire CFL currently in rushing TDs with 8 (next best in the league is at 6 and next best on the team has 3).

Did McGuire get released? I saw that Winnepeg signed a new QB, and couldn't find Sean on the roster.

In an article talking about their free agency situation: https://www.bluebombers.com/2022/02/08/ ... cy-update/
On the back-up quarterback situation with Sean McGuire now a free agent:“We were kind of kicking the tires. With the turnover at that position in this league, it’s tough to find one. Sean McGuire is currently maybe exploring options outside of football to move on with his life, so that adds a twist. He showed some good things the last couple of years, but again missing the pre-season game hurts and the one game he gets to play was terrible weather. And again, from the way our cap is, from a cost standpoint, we’d like to try to find somebody that has some CFL experience, but those are few and far between.”
So it looks like he may be deciding if he wants to continue playing football or if he's ready to hang up the cleats and move on to the next phase. He's got a family now, so he might be looking for a non-playing gig that'll allow him to spend more time with them:
