Chargers have released Mike Scifres. It was rumored that he was considering retirement after last season, so this might expedite that.

Probably has a few punts left in him. If not, he should put his Communication and Broadcasting degree to the test and become the next color commentator for WIU football broadcasts.
Embrace the pace of the race.
Yea, can't help but think that if he'd had a better line blocking for him a few of those years, he probably could have gone another year or two. He was getting pretty beat up for a punter.

That's great to hear. I hope he can do well and maybe get himself a ring this season.

Looks like it just didn't work out for Scifres at the Panthers. He injured his kicking knee in their last preseason game and was one of a handful of players cut yesterday so that the Panthers could get down below the league-mandated 75: http://www.espn.com/blog/nfcsouth/post/ ... r-andy-lee
Also, Jason Williams isn't on the Panthers anymore (his last team Tampa Bay early last year but was released in Sept. 2015).
So, as was kinda discussed in this thread our streak of having former Leathernecks on NFL active rosters starting from the '87 season looks like it will end at the start of this NFL season barring Scifres, Williams, or one of the guys from last year (Watson, Ricketts, etc.) getting signed by someone at the last minute. For the 29 year span from 1978 to 2015, we had at least one player on an NFL roster (and up until last year, a player playing every regular season weekend of NFL football...as near as I have been able to figure out).
Hopefully we can start up a new streak next year with Lenoir or maybe one of the few other seniors we have this year.

Looks like Mike spent some time working with some of the Cowboys special teams guys: http://www.sportingnews.com/nfl/news/mi ... 53u3vmf72c
Wonder if he spent any time chatting with Lance about Western and/or how to better return kicks (and not fumble them).
