Quick update for what else is going on around the MVFC this weekend:

6:00 PM - Southern Illinois at Murray State (OVC): ESPN+, http://www.espn.com/college-football/ga ... =401030159
7:00 PM - Missouri State at Oklahoma State (FBS, Big 12): FS1, http://www.espn.com/college-football/ga ... =401013489

Saturday, September 1st

2:30 PM - Cal Poly (Big Sky) at North Dakota State: ESPN+, http://www.espn.com/college-football/ga ... =401029744
6:00 PM - South Dakota at Kansas State (FBS, Big 12): ESPN3, http://www.espn.com/college-football/ga ... =401013057

7:00 PM - South Dakota State at Iowa State (FBS, Big 12): http://www.espn.com/college-football/ga ... =401013038
8:00 PM - Northern Iowa at Montana (Big Sky): http://www.espn.com/college-football/ga ... =401030112

Predictions/Odds

As you can see, most of the games should not be very close. Most likely Indiana State, Youngstown State, North Dakota State, and Illinois State win. Most likely Missouri State and South Dakota lose. Probably Southern Illinois wins and South Dakota State loses, but those are likely to be closer games. Western Illinois at Montana State and Northern Iowa at Montana are both pretty even games that anyone could win (according to the predictions).

Also, I wanted to mention that ESPN is currently running a promo where you can sign up for ESPN+ before September 2nd and get a 30 day free trial instead of the usual 7 days. So that gives you a full month to try things out and see if it'll work for you, if you want to go that route. I figure, even if I get the whole season, that's like September for free and October and November for $5 a piece...total is cheaper than a home game ticket. Beyond that point, the games will be on ESPN3 or ESPN2 this season, so I won't need it. If you wanted to sign up, you can do it here: https://plus.espn.com/

Oh, and teams that WIU plays this season that aren't in the MVFC:

9/1 @ 11:00 AM - Kent State (MAC) at Illinois on BTN

We also play Montana in a few weeks, but they're playing UNI this weekend, so I already mentioned that in the first post.

Other area teams:
9/1 @ 3:00 PM - Eastern Illinois at Arkansas (SEC) on SEC Network
9/1 @ 2:30 PM - Northern Illinois (MAC) at Iowa (B10) on BTN

So, I decided to watch SIU while waiting for our game to come on. Good grief, Landon Lenoir looks exactly like Lance when he lines up. I think it's the shoulders and the way he lines his feet up, but it's a dead ringer for his big brother.

Let's just hope he doesn't catch quite as well...at least not when he's playing us.

YSU just lost to Butler, 23-21
Big upset. I figured the penguins would struggle this year, but this is a while different level of struggling if they're losing to Pioneer League teams (no scholarships).
