The NAIA announced tonight that the fall championships for all its fall sports with the exception of football will be moved to the spring of 2021.

This decision still allows NAIA conferences to compete in the fall and winter, if they so choose. But the championships will be decided in the spring.

A decision on football will be made Friday, July 31.

UConn is the first FBS program to suspend its football season this year. They compete as an independent currently.

This isn't too surprising. Believe the Governor said he was concerned about travelling to other states, but realistically it's about not having games to play and money. Not being in a conference and having ties to that money and set of games hurts them. They already lost 6 games and 4 of those probably had some decent paydays travelling to IL, Virginia, Ole Miss, and NC.

Football might not happen for anyone, but they wouldn't have dropped the season right now, if they were still part of the American.

Yup, it's also why you saw Notre Dame essentially joining the ACC for a season so they can participate in their "conference-only + 1" schedule this year. Independents who don't have a very close relationship with another conference are going to have a really hard time finding games to play.
Of the other independents, as far as I'm aware...
Army - have had 4 games cancelled so far
BYU - has had 6 games cancelled so far
Liberty - has had 5 games cancelled so far
New Mexico State - 2 games cancelled so far
UMass - 2 games cancelled so far

I would not be surprised to see at least a few others cancel their seasons as well if they continue to lose games.
