The economic downfall due to the COVID-19 pandemic sweeping the nation has taken another victim.

Speaking on Friday, Utah athletic director Mark Harlan that there would be department-wide furloughs and layoffs in response to the economic impact due to the pandemic.

Harlan told reporters that the athletic department could lose $50-$60-million of their $91-million budget.

The NAIA Football season starts on Saturday (Sept 12). This year's season has been reduced to 9 games (from 11).

Culver-Stockton College was to play at Missouri Valley on Saturday. But that game has been moved to October 10 due to Covid-19 protocols.

Kansas Wesleyan University opens the season at home on Saturday vs Friends University (Wichita, Kansas). Game time is 6:00 PM.

Culver Stockton has cancelled there next two games because of Covid.

Chicago State has been competing with only one coach and a dwindling number of players in recent games.

The Cougars (0-9) canceled Tuesday’s game at Iowa State because only five players were available.

Wow. Our women's team hosts them on the 30th, so at this point that's not been impacted, but that's still a week out. A lot could change between now and then.

The Duke Women's Basketball team has ended its season amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Duke Men's coach Mike Krzyzewski questioned why college basketball is being played in the midst of the pandemic.
