UCA to the Atlantic Sun is confirmed: https://www.arkansasonline.com/news/202 ... tic-sun-c/
Apparently they also want to shoot for going FBS within ~3 years. Idk how likely that is though.

Also an update to the Atlantic Sun/Big South situation.
A-Sun football will be probably all the public schools; Kennesaw State, North Alabama, UCA, and plans for three others (I assume Eastern Kentucky and Jacksonville State are two of them, Stetson is rumored to be the third).
Big South football will be the private schools: Campbell, Monmouth, Gardner-Webb, Hampton, Robert Morris
North Carolina A&T is also joining this year. Since they're public, it would make sense for them to join the A-Sun, unless it would make more sense geographically for them in the Big South.

More fuel to the (now quite strong) rumor of EKU and Jacksonville State joining Central Arkansas in the ASun Conference:

Some more information about Jacksonville State and EKU to the ASun: https://www.inforum.com/bison-media-zon ... lantic-Sun

From the article:
The full Atlantic Sun Conference will look like this after July 1 (schools that make up the A-Sun football league have an asterisk):
Bellarmine University
University of Central Arkansas*
Eastern Kentucky University*
Florida Gulf Coast University
Jacksonville University
Jacksonville State University*
Kennesaw State University*
Liberty University
Lipscomb University
University of North Alabama*
University of North Florida
Stetson University
Bellarmine, Lipscomb, Florida Gulf Coast, and North Florida don't have football.
Jacksonville dropped football a couple of years ago.
Liberty plays as a FBS Independent currently.
Stetson is in the Pioneer League.

The goal is to add one more scholarship football playing member, either with a team that is already in the conference (both North Florida and Stetson have flirted with the idea of scholarship football), or by adding another school to the mix. Both Kennesaw State and North Alabama, for example, currently play football in the Big South, but have the rest of their sports in the ASun as of right now. If the ASun was able to convince either (or both) to bring football over, joining the rest of their sports in the ASun, that would do it.

Some new info about this and the WAC moves, the postseason-eligible schools of both conferences will play as one conference for the Fall 2021 season ONLY. It will be known as the AQ7 and will include Abilene Christian, Lamar, Sam Houston State, and Stephen F. Austin (from the WAC) along with Central Arkansas, Eastern Kentucky, and Jacksonville State (from the ASun).
This will allow that group of teams to compete for a playoff auto-bid this fall. Neither conference on their own has enough qualifying teams to earn one this fall. By 2022, both conferences should have their own auto-bid.
