Oral Roberts' Return to the Summit

Miscellaneous discussions. Things that don't have anything to do with Western, Leatherneck Athletics, college sports in general, etc.

Oral Roberts was in town this weekend for baseball.

A few Oral Roberts parents had made the trip up. I asked one of the ORU dads why Oral Roberts had left the Southland Conference. He told me that the answer is "money". He said that the travel expenses are cheaper in the Summit in comparison to the Southland. He also said that the Summit has a monetary reward system in which teams that finish first in a conference sport receive a "bonus" in the form of money which is to be used to assist in travel costs.

I would be interested in knowing if that "bonus" is for a conference championship (possibly splittable among co-champs?) or is it just for a post-season NCAA tournament appearance. The conference bylaws should be on the conference website so I could answer that question myself. Big 12 got it right. Tom Douple and a few others have some work to do.
Embrace the pace of the race.
