Baskin-Robbins of Public Schools?

Miscellaneous discussions. Things that don't have anything to do with Western, Leatherneck Athletics, college sports in general, etc.

Upcoming trustees meeting on Friday. Just browsing through the agenda for it has me thinking that we really do have a program to suit just about everyone. Some of these new minors have me shaking my head a bit though. Shouldn't criminalistics be more of a certification than a minor? A couple others are out there on the fringe as well although maybe a little less so now since Bruce/Caitlyn has had his/her coming out party. I am pretty sure that education and sports have taken the same path, for better or worse. We now have degree programs/specialists to handle just about every single problem that pops up in life. Personally, and even though I did not go the route, I tend to think that a solid and broad liberal arts education is still the best choice for most kids today. And in sports, who needs a short reliever? Give me the guy who can go the distance every time out.

I guess I'm just too "old school", but most of these seem rather.....odd.

We're dropping several due to lack of interest, and some of these appear to be setting themselves up for the same future. (The whole "middle school" thing - what's up with that? I always thought Elementary Education pretty much covered it)

I just see a whole lot of degrees without waiting jobs when looking at these course titles.
