Document and Publication Services being "disassembled"

Miscellaneous discussions. Things that don't have anything to do with Western, Leatherneck Athletics, college sports in general, etc.

Quick update, official enrollment numbers are out for Western.
Format is: Category - 2014 numbers->2015 numbers (% increase or decrease)

Macomb Undergrads - 8626->8121 (-5.8%)
Macomb Grads - 1312->1442 (+9.9%)
QC Undergrads - 1022->1020 (-0.2%)
QC Grads - 501->511 (+2%)

Total Undergrads - 9645->9141 (-5.23%)
Total Grads - 1813->1953 (+7.72%)

Macomb Total - 9938->9563 (-3.77%)
QC Total - 1523->1531 (+0.53%)

Total Enrollment - 11458->11094 (-3.18%)

As you can see, undergrad enrollment overall is dropping, but grad enrollment is increasing (but not enough to make up the difference). QC campus is holding fairly stable overall, while most of the changes (increase in grad enrollment, decrease in undergrad enrollment) are taking place at the Macomb campus.

When I get a minute, I'll dig through the other state universities numbers and compare to previous years for them too.

I had a HS reunion back in Illinois this past weekend. My sister from TX also came in for it and she had lunch with one of her old classmates who happens to be a UofI grad. Word floating around is that they are shooting for 100K students system-wide in the near future. They are about 20K short of that right now.
Embrace the pace of the race.

Did some looking around and comparing of numbers with other schools and here's what I was able to find:

WIU - decrease of 364 students (-3.18%)
SIU-C - decrease of 697 students (-3.9%)
SIU-E - increase of 293 students (+2.1%)
NIU - decrease of 481 students (-2.3%)
EIU - decrease of 393 students (-4.4%)
ISU - website says increase of 173 students (+0.85%) but the numbers I have for last year and this year say increase of 517 students (+2.55%). Not sure what's going on there.
UIUC - increase of 485 students (+1.1%)
UIC - increase of 1,069 students (+3.9%)
UIS - decrease of 29 students (-0.5%)

Increases at UIUC, UIC, SIU-E, and ISU.
Decreases at EIU, NIU, SIU-C, and WIU.
Essentially no change at UIS.

Upswings at "urban" and "flagship" schools, downswings at the "directional" universities.

Can't find numbers for this year for Chicago State, Governors State, or Northeastern IL yet.

You can see all my numbers that I was able to gather together here:
Still trying to hunt down some of the numbers (and working with graphs to make them more legible), but it'll give you an idea of the numbers.

Yea, I've heard that "goal" number before too. Not sure if they're planning on getting there just from increasing enrollment at existing locations, if they plan on taking over another campus in the state, or if they think that a university might end up being shut down or severely restructured to the point where they'd be thousands of students smaller.
