Regardless of how you feel about his politics, it was pretty cool that US Representative Darin LaHood was wearing Leathernecks gear at the Congressional Baseball Game yesterday at the Washington Nationals stadium. Looks like the representatives usually wear uniforms/gear of their "local" team, whether that's a professional team or a college team. LaHood didn't go to Western (he was born in Peoria and attended Loras College in Dubuque, IA) but Western is the largest and most prominent university in the district he represents.

Here's a couple of photos:

Ok, so "most prominent" is subjective. Depending on what you're looking at, Bradley could be more prominent than Western. Largest isn't though...Western has double the students of Bradley.

However, Bradley isn't actually in his district. The only other schools in his district that I'm aware of are Quincy University, Illinois College (Jacksonville), MacMurray College (Jacksonville), and Lincoln College. The district includes nearly everything around Springfield except most of the actual city (and UIS), nearly everything around Peoria except most of the city (including Bradley), and nearly everything around Bloomington/Normal except maybe 50% of the cities (including ISU and Illinois Weslyan). You go off campus from Illinois State two blocks to the East or four blocks to the West and you're in his district, but the schools themselves aren't. http://ziplook.house.gov/htbin/findrep?ZIP=61455

Skipping all these liberal areas (cities & universities) pretty much ensures that the district will be nearly always a republican one.

Yeah....fun with gerrymandering!

No doubt but I am thinking the Trump/Rauner coattails are going to be a little shorter this year compared to most.
Embrace the pace of the race.

That't cool. Glad to see WIU get some exposure. Lahood looks less ridiculous in that uniform than half the MLB managers.

Also I had no idea such a long standing baseball game existed.

Was that Baseball Cap with Rocky part of one of the Leatherneck's alternate uniforms? Don't recall that one this year.
