The budget plan on the table now would provide more money to Higher Education:

Higher education would see a 2 percent increase after years of budget cuts. That translates into a $25 million increase for public universities and community colleges.

In addition, the state would create a $25 million scholarship fund to be matched by public universities and community colleges. The goal of this new tuition assistance program is to keep Illinois students in Illinois attending Illinois schools.

The budget deal does not include shifting millions in state pension costs to universities and colleges.
House passed it 97-18.

So it appears to me that there is a 2% increase in funds. Does anyone have any idea what is going on with the CPA/PAC? ;) jc

I haven’t heard anything positive about a capital bill yet. My fingers are crossed, though.

Given the State's economy, they really should be spending money where needed, not just where it would be nice. Think bridges, not performing arts centers, especially with the huge enrollment decline.

I’m hoping lots of bridges and roads. I’d almost bet years salary the PAC will never be built.

Whoever the next AD is, I hope they get rid of the "Tradition of Tough" tag line, I think it is lame

One of her statements, "“With them moving to Sioux Falls, they’re within driving distance of five institutions and we have shifted that way as a conference, so I think we have to look at that as we move forward." I wonder if this means she's looking at the potential of a conference change.

UW-Parkside just left the GLVC. That leaves them with 15 members.
