We are not the only fan board with an interest in funding some small fry projects. I got an email today from ISUb board admin asking for $100 donations from members to buy new home and away jerseys for basketball team ($6K total project). I got to looking around on the internet for sites which assist fundraisers in an effort like this. I came across IndeiGoGo and spent about 10 minutes putting a quick project together. It can be linked to a PayPal or credit card when activated. Yes, they do take a certain percentage of your proceeds but that is the price you pay for the service. Time is money. Sure, contributors could call up some guy in the Athletic Office to do this, but why steal his time for a simple monetary contribution. Even the WIU general donation site is a bit clumsy and time consuming as you have to enter your name and address a couple of times (once for wiu and once for the credit card). A site like IndieGoGo would be a big help in fundraising efforts IMO.

Is that site better than gofundme.com ? As in some sites have different percentages and rules. I kno the gofundme site is basically one of the big dogs of those kind of sites and has millions of users so a lot of times if u have an interesting idea random people will fund some. Like of you tries to raise money to build a statue you may get bunch of artists or art fans to donate a few bucks here and there

Here is something that might might work to increase our membership. Talking this board membership although the Leatherneck Club might be interested too. We all saw how powerful that image of Hanson Field that ST took the other day was. Suppose we (or the Athletic Department) are able to pull off an even better image for Homecoming. What if we kick it up a notch by doing what the Bison have done:

http://gigapixel.panoramas.com/ndsu/football/1211/

Being able to tag yourself and friends and share it is such a cool social media thing these day. Not sure how much it would cost to pull this off but I will be looking in to it. How will it help our membership you ask? Well, we could possibly make this image and tagging feature one of the "protected" areas on this site that only registered members can get to. I would like to think that we are true "innovators" instead of just Bison "copycats", but their success leaves me envious enough to want to do this kind of thing and maybe we can even put a new wrinkle or two into it that exceeds what they have done.

How could the Leatherneck Club leverage an image like this? Offer it (digital only/unframed print/framed print,...) as a membership perk of course.

Thoughts?

That's an idea, if we can get them to come to Western.
It looks like it's a company that does it (Blakeway).
They also did the one for NDSU at last year's championship game (http://gigapixel.panoramas.com/ndsu/football/20140104/) and it looks like they make their money by selling panoramic photos of the stadiums and stuff (http://www.panoramas.com/north-dakota-s ... d-posters/).

Not sure if we'd be able to set it up where only people on the site could tag themselves, but it's still a cool idea.

Without a doubt, should we pull off the upset of a still undefeated NDSU team on that day, the value of that image would be humongous. A lot to ask for, but I am a Cubs fan so I am a well-seasoned eternal optimist.

Here is something to think about to, I was unable to stay for the half time so maybe they did this or something similar and I do not know, but I heard that ISUr has a blindfolded field goal attempt at halftime and if you can make it you win a free semester of tuition at the school. They pick one current student from the stands. I do not know the distance or any other details just that the kid that attempted it last weekend made it!

Good idea. ISUr actually made SportsCenter top 10 with their half-time antics only it was not a football that went through the uprights.

I think it would be awesome if the valley of purple that they have planned on the master plan involved some large statue in front of the football stadium or between the football stadium and then rec area where everyone walks. I saw this picture online which is a good example of what a lot of college do. It would be neat to have a statue for example of three of the most decorated WIU football players that went to NFL with rocky leading them in. Every college needs an awesome statue to demonstrate their support and we have a great art department to complete such a work!
