For the curious, I've got the numbers for all the public universities put into my spreadsheet. You can check that out below. The "Data" tab is the raw numbers, highlighted low (red) to high (green) for each individual institution, then there's 1-year, 5-year, and 10-year change data on tabs as well (and all similarly highlighted). You can use this to see that, for example, over the previous decade (2009-2019) all of the universities have lost students except for UIUC, UIC, and ISU. Over the past 5 years, ISU has increased, and the year-to-year (1-year) change shows that EIU has also increased over the last 2 years, but not enough to make up for their 5-year change (so far). Or, that over the last decade, WIU has lost 39.87% of it's enrollment, with NEIU, NIU, and EIU almost as bad, and SIU-C worse...with Chicago State losing a whopping nearly 59% in that timeframe. Parse the data however you want, but I find it a useful tool for seeing where the various schools are at and where they've been historically.

I have data for all schools back to at least 2006. Chicago State's 2005 numbers are unavailable for some reason (so I've estimated them) and I can't find data for Illinois State , Governor's State, and Northeastern IL back before around 2004. Everyone else goes back to 2002, which was both the "peak" for state funding of Illinois Higher Education, and also where the data starts to get pretty "spotty" (before most schools put together nice pdfs every year and making them available online).

Thanks, Scott. This is awesome work. I've attempted to bookmark it so I will be able to find it in the future.

Susan Koch was very impressive. She is now Chancellor at UIS. She's had a few challenges at UIS, especially with the faculty union, but certainly would have been better than JT.
Just saw this regarding Chancellor Koch: https://www.tspr.org/post/uis-faculty-a ... nce-survey

At this year’s Annual University Assembly on August 15th, acting president Martin Abraham said (to cheers) that enrollment numbers would show an increase at the Assembly in 2020.

Now he is saying that enrollment will start to increase in 2021??

Which statement is correct??

He said that there will be an increase in new freshmen in 2020, but that there's "baked in" declines because we've been bringing in smaller class sizes than the ones that have been leaving, so total enrollment will still likely decrease a bit next year. 2021 is when he's projecting actual enrollment increasing.

Recovery isn't going to happen overnight, but we need to start somewhere. So far, I'm liking what I'm seeing and hearing. Now we need the results.
