New Sense of Hope

A new Board of Trustees with a very different approach, asking questions and demanding answers, combined with new blood coming in as Provost while also taking on the role of Acting President with overwhelming support from the Provost search committee provides a sense of hope that I haven't seen on the WIU campus from at least a few years.

As was noted at the Board meeting, now it the time to GROW ourselves, not talk or cut ourselves, out of the challenges facing Western.

Onward!!

My "New Sense of Hope" is already fading. Today's BOT meeting has been canceled due to lack of a quorum. The BOT will now meet in October (maybe).

The Governor's office removed Nick Padgett and Jackie Thompson from the Board. Three other members were no-shows, presumably in solidarity with Nick and Jackie, to prevent a railroading of Joe Rives being named President. No quorum, no meeting, no Joe. So Abraham remains as Acting President.

Well removing Jackie is a great start don’t let the door hit you where the good lord split you.

I was hoping Dr. Thomas would have canned Rives on his way out.

Let’s just say that there were a lot of things that I have heard that she had a hand in on.

Given that Thomas named him Senior VP, Joe was clearly Jack's man.
