I received an email saying the Chicago Golf Outing has been cancelled, that's not good news. I assume it was cancelled due to low numbers, maybe Jim can fill us in.

The whole idea of the “All Leatherneck” was to bring coaches and former athletes in the Chicago area together for a day of golf. I have been a part of the Football Reunion Golf outing that Brian Spotts sponsors and I cannot tell you just how much energy for the “Purple and God” one feels when you are surrounded by so many athletes from so many different teams/decades of the football program. Our goal was to capture that same feeling in the Chicagoland area. It was not meant to draw participants or compete with any other golf event sponsored by the university such as the alumni events in Glen Ellyn, Quadcities, Colgate, Suzi Miner, and the Leatherneck Club event held at the beginning of June. We tried a couple of different dates and I definitely got some positive buy-in from the coaches and alumni and there was always that Leatherneck spark no matter the participant numbers. But people are busy. So it’s time to rethink and try something different.

As I have said repeatedly, I am not going away. I am not going to quit looking for ways to bring Leathernecks in the suburbs together. It’s too important to me and “Leatherneck Nation!” Enough said! ;) jc
