It will take a decade or longer to fix this problem assuming they start today. Surprising to see Carthage College grabbing so many of them. My Dad graduated from Carthage when it was in Carthage.

Update: He was there the same time former Galesburg HS Hoops legendary coach John Thiel was there.

I was surprised that Carthage College was one of the top "importers" of Illinois kids. Many of us either recall or are aware that Carthage College used to be in .......wait for it.

Carthage.

In the 1960s they decided to pack up the shop and head out of Forgottonia. Seems to have worked out well for them.

If the "real" Kansas City to Chicago Expressway was built way back when it was proposed in the 60s 70s and 80s western Illinois would have benefited in so many ways. It would have transformed this entire region.

Our Record Book shows the all time football series record against Carthage College is 12-16-6
I made a pass through the year by year results and came up with 15-18-6 ( A couple years we played them twice).

So, take your pick or average the two. That little bit of knowledge and a buck will get you a large Coke at McDonalds.

What do they have that we don't have? Maybe a couple of cool traditions to write home about.

Yeah, that sounds like fun had by all. The Peach Blossoms were kinda tamed down by the time I got there in the mid '90s. Thats great that the Gov caved to peer pressure and got in on the fun

And THAT was westerns “niche”. What drew high school graduates. What skyrocketed the enrollment. I’d like to see correlation of wheeler street block party fiasco (and the new laws implicated because of it) and the enrollment decline.
