There was no report in today's Macomb newspaper. Nothing on WIUM-FM, and nothing on local Macomb radio. Wonder if any local media was at this meeting ???

According to the Agenda for this BOT meeting, projected enrollment and a budget snapshot were to be addressed.

I'm hearing Fall 2018 enrollment of around 8K.

Enrollment for Fall 2017 was 9,441.

A Fall 2018 enrollment of 8,000 would be a decrease of 15% in comparison to Fall 2017.

Yep, and no press releases about either the April or May Board meeting events, just that they were happening. Nor any minutes updates posted, just December 2017. http://www.wiu.edu/board_of_trustees/minutes/index.php

If bad news isn't posted, I guess your presumption, vatusay, is right - "everything is looking great."

While the May meeting let us know our enrollment projections were in the tank, the June meeting might be very interesting.

No news is good news?.....I'm going to guess no.
By the sounds of it, things were trending pretty well for a while...applications, acceptances, etc. until the day of the strike authorization. From that point on, everything pretty much dropped off a cliff.

I’d say that was used as an easy and very convenient scape goat by the administration. Did it help? No.

I guess it’s just my opinion but I highly highly doubt everything was trending up until then.

The outlook was in the gutter well before that.

Well, not so much trending "up"....but trending "holding steady"...like, not dropping significantly.

Sure, the faculty strike threat didn't help, but it's foolish of the administration to lay the poor enrollment projections solely on that. We've been trending down for more than 10 years - before state budget issues, before faculty strike threats. The fault likes with the administration, refusing to see the writing on the wall, and very directly on Joe Rives for failing miserably in his lead strategic planning role.
