10th day was Tuesday, yet not publishing of enrollment by end of Wednesday. I imagine if the news was great, it would be out already, similar to EIU's posting. Not being released would seem to make it more likely the news is not good.

564 from the Macomb campus graduated in December. So those people are gone.

True, but some new students should have enrolled. Most telling will be if we are worse off compared Spring to Spring in relationship to the decline we saw from Fall 2016 to Fall 2017.

Fall 2017 enrollment was down 8.98% from 2016.
Spring 2018 enrollment looks to be 8,599, which would be a decrease of 9.19%.

Western down 9%

Eastern up 5%

Looks like whatever WIU's efforts are concerning recruitment isn't working. It will not be many years at this rate until Eastern's enrollment surpasses Western's.

Not a big Dr. Jack Thomas fan. Enrollment has done nothing but tank during his tenure.

And yet, here on Thursday, 2 days past 10th day official enrollment, the numbers still haven't been officially released. I expect they'll take a late Friday release approach, avoiding having to answer questions until Monday. Typical bad news release time.

So the news release, with typical lipstick on pig, will say, "we held our own in maintaining pace with the expected fall decline caused by the state budget challenges." AKA, we only sucked a little more that in the Fall, but we are still failing too admit the real reasons for our decline and continuing to do business as we always have, unlike EIU who made a commitment to change and saw considerable increases both Fall and Spring!
