Another cut-back to on-campus food service will begin this fall.

Sodexo will no longer serve breakfast at the Corbin-Olson dining center.

Thompson will be the only dining center having breakfast (Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 9:30 AM).

Every time WIU cuts the hours at the on-campus dining facilities, locals restaurants and pub owners should be licking their chops. However, it appears that Rocky Dollars or Flex Dollars or whatever they are called these days are accepted only at on-campus establishments. Maybe it is time to broaden that scope a bit and do something similar to what JMU does. Their student ID card is used to do many things on campus but also allows purchasing goods and services at many off-campus locations. Look how many options they have to grab a bite or whatever and pay for it through their JMU flex account:

Lastly, maybe this would be yet another way to help bridge that Town and Gown divide.
Also sends a nice message to Sodexo. Lets hope they dont have something in the contract which prevents this kind of thing.

And breakfast is the most important meal of the day. No wonder we have trouble recruiting and keeping students. Sodexho should not be allowed to make this decision.

At least a continental breakfast, like as hotels, with pasties, cereal, oatmeal, scrambled eggs, juices, and coffee should be available at ALL of the on-campus housing communities - North Quad (Bay/Henn, Tanner), Thompson, Corbin-Olson, and Linc-Wash-Grote.

To Sodexo, students are like a herd of cows on a big ranch. You drive your feed truck through the pasture and drop your feed as you go, the cows will follow. For the students living in the south end, it is likely the Union where Sodexo still cashes in. Skipping breakfast meal not a good thing. I did it for most of my life. Now It is the one meal I never miss. A bowl of oatmeal in the morning and I can skip lunch and still not feel hungry, even after a morning workout.

For Fall 2017, EIU had 950 full-time freshmen and 632 part-time freshmen. Total = 1,582.

You're counting apples and oranges here. We're talking about NEW freshmen. The total number of freshmen is higher because students are classified as freshman until they have completed, I believe, 24 semester hours. A whole lot of students don't bank 24 hours in their first year, so if they come back for year 2, they're still freshmen until they do.

Oh, to be a fly on the wall next to the river on Thursday and Friday. Do we have any attendees on this board who can take some good notes?

I think the agenda looks very serious! The future direction of the university is suppose to be announced on July 16th! Can't wait for the discussion on this board! ;) jc

We will have to hope that the Quad Cities news media will be there and file some reports.
