The demolition projects are currently on hold until a budget is passed. The university has requested extensions from the three low bid contractors in able to hold their prices. Thankfully all three contractors have granted an extension, but the way things are looking now no extension will be long enough for a state budget.

A new road or walkway across the river would be a huge and unnecessary cost, especially when you consider that construction would be destroying what is classified as "wetland" and that comes with an extra premium. The current plan for the Lamoine Village area is to turn that space over to the University Farm for a pasture.

The city does have plans to redo Wigwam Hollow road from the river going to the north. They were originally going to wait until after the Lamoine Village demolition so frequent truck traffic would not damage the new road. Now that that project is on hold though, they may postpone that project even further as well.
