On this Throwback Thursday, rather than create a new thread for something old, I will just put my thoughts here. We have faced the MSU Bobcats twice in history, losing both times, the last time in 1993 at home. Below is the program from that game. I found it somewhat interesting. For one, it had advertisers/supporters from as far away as Galesburg and Monmouth. BTW, I bought my first car, a 1978 Olds Cutlass Supreme, at Bruce Foote in Monmouth. Best car I have ever owned without a doubt. Things are different now. First, you look under the hood of any vehicle and dont recognize too much of it. Second, I have only owned trucks for the last 30 years. I do think a high rise pickup has added years to my life as I can easily slide my butt right into the driver's seat without wrenching my back. Enough digress. Do game programs today include that level of advertising outside the environs of Macomb? If they don't, maybe someone should fix that. More digress. I have only owned one suit in my life. Needless to say, it no longer fits and I donated it to charity three or four years ago, but I got it in Macomb back in 1981 at some clothing store on the square, south side of square if memory serves me right. Was Kline's a clothing store? Maybe someone can help me fill in this throwback gap. Also, there was a mention in the program about the Western Wranglers Dance Line. Those gals definitely made you want to stick around for halftime festivities. Lots of long legs in tall white boots. ;)

Yeah, there was a Kline's clothing store just off the square on the south side. When you said "suit", I immediately thought of Nelson's - a long standing Macomb business. They actually did alterations and such to get things just right.

J.C. Penney was on the west side of the Square -- where the newspaper is now.

And Hermann's was another men's clothing store. They were also on the west side of the Square -- where the vitamin shop is now.

Herbert's rings a bell. I think that was it. And I think it was on the west side. Gumbart's was on the south side as I recall even though latest address for them appeared to be on the east side. I have no problem whatsoever remembering where Kuli's Gin Mill was. lol

The STATS FCS Pre-season Top 25 poll was released Monday:

North Dakota State, which has won six of the last FCS championships, was the overwhelming choice as No. 1, garnering 151 of the 157 first-place votes. The Bison were followed by 2017 national runner-up James Madison, which gained the other six first-place votes, and fellow semifinalists South Dakota State and Sam Houston State.

Half of the 10 Missouri Valley Football Conference members made the poll. Illinois State, North Dakota State and South Dakota State were joined by Northern Iowa at 13th and Youngstown State at 25th.

MVFC teams and 2017 playoff qualifiers South Dakota (26th) and Western Illinois (27th) were just outside of the Top 25 in voting by a national panel of sports information and media relations directors, broadcasters, writers and other dignitaries.
