Positives from Saturday v ISU

1) Improved OL play. We faced one of the best DLs in the country and did pretty well. Ave 3 yds per rush, was 2 for 3 on 4th down and gave up 3 sacks on the day. Two of which were in the 4th Q down 2 scores late when they knew we were passing. We started a true Fresh at LG, and he looked good.

2) aside from the trick play on the goal line, play calling was much improved. Finally getting the ball to Ratko, with 12 touches for 140 yds. Also over 50% on 3rd downs which was double our season Ave.

3) Our Defense held their AA RB to just 68 yds on 21 carries.

4) our Freshman RBs looked very good! Great things to come from those 2.

I will agree. I don't know what all they changed Saturday, but it certainly didn't look like the same offense that's been playing. I was very pleasantly surprised with how well we did hang in there. The way they were playing, had there not been that lousy fumble and (to me) incredibly stupid trick play, we might have been looking at a closer game than what we saw.

Was nice to see the D get the chance to last a whole game! Poor guys have been worn out by halftime in the earlier games.
