Game Notes
Western Illinois
Northern Iowa
History: WIU and UNI have played 47 times beginning in 1967. Northern Iowa holds a 31-16 series lead, although WIU has won the last two games and 3 of the last 4. The last time in the UNIDome was in 2017, when a back-and-forth game ended with two Leatherneck TDs in the final 6 seconds of the game to win by 9. Last year was more of a lopsided 37-17 WIU victory at Hanson Field.
WIU in 2018 - 5-6 overall, 4-4 in the MVFC
WIU in 2019 - 1-10 overall, 1-6 in the MVFC
UNI in 2018 - 7-6 overall, 5-3 in the MVFC, 1-1 in the FCS Playoffs
UNI in 2019 - 7-4 overall, 5-2 in the MVFC
Location: UNIDome, Cedar Falls, IA
Weather Prediction: Inside a dome, but if you happen to be traveling to the game or doing a bit of tailgating, it's supposed to be in the low 40s, partly sunny, ~2% chance of precipitation, and ~10 mph winds.
Odds:
Massey Ratings - 2% chance of WIU win, with a predicted score of 35-7 for the Panthers
Sagarin Ratings - UNI 92% chance of victory
Well, here we are folks. We've already reached the end of another season, and in this case, a pretty disappointing one. I feel bad for this year's seniors, having to go out on this kind of a season, but sometimes that's just how life goes. We're playing for bragging rights and a chance to be a spoiler. UNI is in the playoffs for sure with a win. If they lose, they will likely find themselves right on the edge of the playoff "bubble" and will need help from other teams to make it in.
