Not sure where to put this, if you want to move elsewhere Scott, that is fine. Anyway I heard Don Patterson say that Jimmy Garoppolo's brother played for WIU when he was the head coach. Michael was his name I believe, does anybody remember him? He said he wasn't coaching at WIU anymore when Jimmy was at EIU. I wonder if he would have recruited him if he still was the WIU head coach.

Yes, Mike Garoppolo was a fairly decent LB for the Leathernecks. I remember him well. On the team from 2007-2011: https://goleathernecks.com/sports/footb ... polo/13468

Patterson was HC here from 1999-2008/2009ish (depending on when you want to consider his tenure "over"...he was officially the HC in 2008, but Hendrickson was acting HC for much of that year), so Patterson would have recruited Mike. Jimmy was at EIU from 2010-2013 (https://eiupanthers.com/sports/football ... ppolo/3406) so recruiting of him would have happened around the time things were moving from Patterson to Hendrickson. I don't know if Jimmy was considering Western as on option at that point or not (or if we'd offered him or not).
Recruiting sites are notoriously inaccurate when it comes to the FCS, but Rivals lists Jimmy as having offers from EIU, Illinois State, and Montana State: https://n.rivals.com/content/prospects/ ... -interests
