Looks like we have a new addition to our coaching staff.

Coach Zach Grant is our new RB coach: https://twitter.com/Coach_ZG
Grant was previously an offensive Grad Assistant Coach at Illinois after playing WR for the Illini for 3 years: https://fightingillini.com/coaches.aspx?rc=1076
He is originally from Rochester (Springfield area), so should help with recruiting in that area, plus he should be familiar with our new freshman QB Clay Bruno. He also played with QB Wes Lunt (younger brother of former WIU QB Will Lunt).

Coach Grant had a catch for 7 yards and a special team tackle against us in 2015.

Tom Anthony was our Defensive Coordinator/OLB coach
Brandon Blackmon was our DBs coach
Deion Melvin was our Defensive run game/ILB coach
Ty Howle was our Co-Offensive Coordinator/O-Line coach

As far as I know, we have not filled those positions yet (at least, not publicly).

I wonder if Patrick Shepard will be shifting duties somewhat. He's listed as RB/Special Teams coordinator, but Zach Grant is going to be our new RB coach.

Now that the signing day stuff is over, I’d have to imagine that getting those coaching holes filled is his top priority. Probably want to have those guys in town and ready to work by the time spring ball starts up. Technically we can still be signing players now, but if he’s happy with the class as it currently stands, then the coaches have to be his focus.

Doug Patterson is an O-Line coach who has started retweeting WIU football stuff and is followed by a few of the people on/connect with our staff, just fyi: https://twitter.com/CoachDP78
His bio says: "on dec 10 2019; SCSU dropped their football program. so now I am an Oline coach with 27 years of coaching exp looking for a new job. excited for what is next"
SCSU is St. Cloud State University (DII in St. Cloud, MN) that recently decided to eliminate their football program.

Here's more info about him: https://scsuhuskies.com/sports/football ... terson/971

I'm betting he's heard a lot about WIU over the years. Fellow assistant at St. Cloud, Steve Grimit is a WIU grad and former Leatherneck football player and Wrestler.
