Scott, are you hearing anything about the season being moved to the spring. A local radio sports show I was listening to for a little bit yesterday, said that they are hearing more and more that the FCS football season will be in the Spring.

Some schools and conferences have mentioned it as a possibility, although there's a lot of logistics that would need to go into figuring that out. It would also depend on what FBS conferences are doing.
My rough estimate is about a 85% chance that there is no college football this fall at any level. As for spring...if fall football is cancelled, I'd say maybe a 20% chance they reschedule something for spring. Spring football also interferes with the NFL draft schedule and all that goes along with it. Will players who have a good chance at making the NFL want to sit out a spring season so they can enter the draft? Will teams that have a large number of those players want to actually play games if they're down half of their starters or something?

Still a lot of question marks. Spring football is a possibility, although I'd say it's not the most likely scenario at this point.

Regarding sporting events, President Martin Abraham said that the University is still weighing its options. Currently, no spectators are allowed for indoor events. Hanson Field may be seated at 20 percent capacity.

Billy Clow, interim provost and academic vice president, said that the marching band is expected to resume. Marching band as well as other musical ensembles would be broken into smaller sections. Larger choirs and bands will be unable to do full public performances, but other possibilities such as on-line performances are currently being looked into.

Marching Band should be possible if they do everything outside and make sure to space things out a bit more than is usually done. My guess is we'll see a bit of a shorter show than we usually see, since rehearsals will be harder to do, especially if the weather isn't cooperative.

Choirs are going to be difficult. My brother-in-law is one of the choir professors at Western and he's going to have to do pretty much just "small ensemble" type stuff in the larger rehearsal spaces. There's going to be a lot of chamber music being done this year by musicians all across the country.
