I just have a lot concerns about playing in the fall then turning around and playing in the spring for example how are kids supposed to let there bodies get rest and recover from injuries. Also feel like your asking for much worse injuries.
I completely agree, I was just posting the info as I see it come across the "wire".
The NCAA needs to step up and do what's best for the athletes and students. They need to just come out and say "no football in the fall...period". I'm not a medical expert, but it may be best to just not have any football games at all during the 2020/21 school year.
If having games in the late spring and then also having a regular fall season in 2021 is too much too close together for the health and safety of the athletes, then just cancel it all until fall 2021. Consider this season an extra "redshirt" year for everyone. Allow teams to practice, train, conduct scrimmages, and maybe something like a "simulated game" or two. Having some teams play a few games this fall, then some this spring, then a full schedule next fall, while others only play in the spring, and some don't play at all, is just a recipe for disaster (injuries, confusion, probably lawsuits, etc.). Kids are going to be frantically transferring from schools that aren't playing to other schools that might be playing games, but in the process making hasty and possibly ill-informed decisions that could seriously impact their future.
Cancelling football for (at least) the fall will allow more time for students to make better decisions about where they want to spend the next few years of their lives. Setting a solid and known schedule for the spring or fall 2021 will allow everyone involved to take a breath, evaluate their situations, and make some rational decisions about what they need to do over the next 6 months or so.
Like I said, I'm not a medical expert, so I don't know if this is smart in terms of the health of the athletes, but if they decide that spring football is do-able, I'd like to see something like this:
March 13th to May 1st (8 weeks) is the "regular season"...only conference games.
May 8th, 15th, and 22nd are the "playoffs"...both FBS and FCS do a 16-team playoff...conference champions plus the remainder as "at-large" teams.
May 29th is off for the teams playing in the championship game, but that weekend they do the Celebration Bowl (MEAC champ vs SWAC champ), maybe Army vs Navy on Memorial Day...stuff like that.
Saturday June 5th is the FCS championship game at 1 PM, then the FBS championship game in prime time.
Alternately, I suppose if the FBS would prefer, they could play bowl games during the playoff timeframe. I think most schools are done with spring classes by mid-May, so you'll likely have the last couple of weeks of May through to June 5th (that's ~3 weeks) to fill in with bowl games and their shorter "playoff" system.
