The Courier has a good article about how it's like a Homecoming for a lot of the players:
Homecoming of sorts

Also (mentioned in the article), Joey Borsellino's sister is on the Northwestern Women's Soccer team.

Good articles, yes. But when are they going to put some NEW news at the top of the main sports page? Don't these writers ever see the BIG picture their articles are posted in?

I just sent an email to the Courier regarding this. If I don't see it fixed in a week, my next email will be to @StudentPres himself.

OK, that's enough Saturday morning rant. Now let's steal one from the Wildcats and get ready for those Salukis!

The Leathernecks found some game after the first Wildcat TD. It is on the ESPN channel here. Good luck on second half.

Sittin' here in section 123. Getting cloudy but no real reason yet. 1 or 2 drops maybe. Leathernecks look good so far. Really is just that we've made one mistake more than they did and they capitalized on it. Time for the 2nd half.

Western's defense was good. Offense got a lot of first downs, and a nice percentage of 3rd Down conversions.

So so many mistakes. I guess they did Ok considering Western's opposition was Northwestern and Western.

WIU NW
1st Downs 22 15
3rd down efficiency 4-17 3-14
4th down efficiency 2-5 1-2
Total Yards 376 283
Passing 292 117
Comp-Att 29-50 15-25
Yards per pass 5.8 4.7
Rushing 84 166

Penalties 6-40 5-35
Turnovers 4 2
Fumbles lost 3 2
Interceptions thrown 1 0

Wow  look at the 1st downs disparity, the total yards disparity and the time of possession disparity. WIU won in those all important categories but, failed to put any points on the board after the initial drive of the game.

Yea, you look at the stats and you'd think won a close game. Just too many mistakes to overcome

The TV crew mentioned numerous Western "bad snaps" on offense.

The Western band and crowd were very well heard during the telecast.

Center was having some serious issues. Lots of low snaps.

We yelled loud when we could, although there wasn't too much to yell about for a large part of the game. I wished they could have had the band and visitors section right next to each other. We could tell they sounded pretty good, but because we were on opposite end of the West stands, we couldn't coordinate any cheers or anything.
