Being a techno-geek, my head is spinning right now just thinking about all of the cool automation strategies that could be used for managing the behind the scenes activities of football game. The football could have a special chip in it, the players could have identifying chips on them as well. No need for spotter and/or PA guy. A computer could easily determine ball carrier and tackler(s) and announce the play to the crowd. Using expert system technologies, a computer could also know time, score, yardage, down, etc. and know the perfect sound byte for the situation and instantly start that pre-recorded music or notify the band members to play it and throw something up on the video board to tell fans to get loud. Even video imaging/surveillance technology could be applied to automatically have the music cut off at the right time. All doable. Just think how many more people could sit back and enjoy the game instead of slaving away trying to get it just perfect for us.
Embrace the pace of the race.
