WIU is 1-5 versus number ones. Lone victory was at home against Youngstown St. back in 1998 (14-0).

In that same year of 1998 when Western knocked off #1 Youngstown State at Hanson Field 14-0 on October 3, Western beat #2 Florida A&M at Hanson Field 24-21 on December 5. The last time that a #1 team played at Hanson Field was on October 20, 2007. Northern Iowa came to town and won the game 42-3.
