What are everyone's thoughts on tonight's game vs. SEMO. I see the line has up by 9.5. Just curious what everyone thought.

I pulled this from the SEMO Preseason Hype Blurb:

"Southeast Missouri senior guard Antonius Cleveland was named Preseason All-Ohio Valley Conference during the league's annual media day Wednesday at the Sheraton Music City Hotel.

One of the top non-power five guards according to College Court Report, Cleveland started 25 of 26 games a year ago. He led SEMO in scoring (15.2 ppg), rebounding (6.6 rpg), minutes played (31.4 mpg), steals (42) and blocks (15). Cleveland finished among the top-10 OVC leaders in scoring (10th), rebounding (9th), steals (5th), offensive rebounds (8th, 2.4 rpg) and defensive rebounds (9th, 4.2 rpg). He put on 20 pounds since his freshman year and enters this season with over 1,000 points (1,007) and 400 rebounds (403) in his career. This year marks the second-straight where Cleveland landed a spot on the league's preseason squad.

As a team, SEMO was picked to finish sixth in the West Division and 11th overall in this year's OVC Preseason Poll. The Redhawks, who went 5-24 overall and 2-14 in the OVC last season, accumulated 42 points in the voting by conference head coaches and sports information directors."

Looks like it could be Covington and Cleveland show tonight.

Games like this (two fairly evenly matched teams) are good prep for conference. Good time to try out some things to see what clicks. One thing I would like to see us do is "Go Big" with both Gilbeck and Snyder in lineup at the same time. For many years, we have had a mostly small lineup and an offense designed around it. Now we have a couple of big kids with a little potential (fingers crossed here), why not switch things up and have a plan B offense to get these guys some good looks. Big guys should be able to contribute in more ways than just picking up second chance bunny points around the rim.

What is the deal with Miklusak? Still injured? suspended?

Unfortunately another game where the team can't score more than 10 point in the first 10 min of the game, and then also can't close out the last 5 min.

Bad loss...I mean really bad loss. I dont even know how that just happened...I try to be "loyal" to the end...and I will be!.... BUT...we should have not lost that game. Very poor coaching IMO...

Is a game on Wednesday night the reason for the poor fan support?

Key Stats of the Game:

FG: WIU (25-55 (46%)) SEMO (25-56 (45%))
3's: WIU (7-18 (39%)) SEMO (4-10 (40%))
FT: WIU (14-22 (64%)) SEMO (20-27 (74%))
TO's: WIU (16) SEMO (15)
Rebounds: WIU (30 (6 offense)) SEMO (37 (9 offense))
Fouls: WIU (20) SEMO (19)

Doesn't take much to see but poor 3 point shooting and free throw shooting with the combination of being beat at the boards and turnovers will hurt a team's chances of winning.

I agree that when you don't make free throws and miss numerous shots at the rim it is hard to win. You can not blame poor coaching for that!

8 total rebounds in 2nd half is the stat that jumps out to me. That kind of effort aint going to win many games. We need to find a way to keep our big guys in the game and more than one of them at any given time.

Southeast Missouri State won the game 74-71.

Garrett Covington and Jabari Sandifer led the Western scoring with 19 points. Dalan Ancrum had 10.

Western was 14 for 22 on free throws.

Attendance at Western Hall = 807.

Wow, thought they would have been better prepared after the contest against that intramural squad on Monday.

I could shoot 64% from the line.
