The men are now 5-1 on the season (like the women...do they not mark exhibition games or did we just not play any this season?) with DI wins over Eastern Illinois, SIU-Edwardsville, and IUPUI, and their only loss to Iowa State (who went 24-11 last year and was a #5 seed in the NCAA tournament).
Games over the next week and a half are...
Saturday, December 2nd - at home vs Miami (OH) at 7 PM
Miami is currently 3-3 with wins over Fordham (55-54), Wright State (73-67 in OT), and LIU Brooklyn (78-74), and losses to Hartford (68-58), Tulane (80-59), and Austin Peay (86-61). They have a game against NAIA Midway University before their matchup with us.
Wednesday, December 6th - at home vs American University at 7 PM
American University is 2-3 overall with wins over New Hampshire (74-70) and VMI (69-64). Losses to Kansas State (83-45), West Virginia (98-64), and Wagner (71-70). They started the season back in August with a 3-game exhibition tour in Australia against some of their local teams.
Saturday, December 9th - at home vs Milwaukee at 7 PM
Milwaukee is 4-2 currently with wins over DIII UW-LaCrosse (83-73), Iowa State (74-56), Florida International (66-51), and Elon (72-71), and losses to DII Concordia-St. Paul (69-55), and Wisconsin (71-49). They have games at Northern Illinois, home vs Montana State, and at Jacksonville University before they come to Macomb. Honestly, I don't know what is going on with Milwaukee...they beat Iowa State by 18, then 4 days later lost by 14 to a DII team...I mean....what?!?! As near as I can tell, neither game was treated as an exhibition by any of the teams, so I don't have any idea.
After that slate of games, we have a 10-day break until our next game at Eastern Illinois on 12/19.
vs Miami (OH), vs American, vs Milwaukee

Today's Macomb newspaper did have this article: WIU notebook: Webster, Morgan shine in roles, defense fueling hot start.

And today's Western Courier had this article: Men’s hoops tries for sixth win.

There is no promotional activity shown for the December 2 game with Miami (Ohio).

I saw Brandon Gilbeck out at "Dickens on the Square" this evening. I did not see if he was telling people to show up to the game or not though.

Down 35-31 at the half. Ancrum with 14. Gilbeck picked up 2 fouls in 5 seconds late in half and had to sit. Both occurred 22 feet from bucket. That should never happen.

Wow, what a game. Only bad thing is we go down 76-73 is 2OT. But whatever you paid to see this one, you got your money's worth and then some. Our lack of depth in the big dept really hurt us in this game. Gilbeck fouled out late in regulation. Morgan played soft on D when he got his fourth. But overall, you gotta love the effort from the guys.
