82-56 plucking of the Golden Eagles.

Going forward,
IF ....
Kobe is Kobe and will always get what Kobe gets
Ancrum 15+
Gilbeck 12+ along with 30+ minutes
THEN
We can beat any team in the Summit

Great win came out and beat a team we should got up early and never let them back in. Arguably the most complete game we have played all year along with maybe the Milwaukee game. ORU is as bad as we thought they were at the start of the season there the worst team in the league even though the standings may say otherwise. ORU didn't have any really good shooters which is usually what really hurts us in games. When I walked in I knew that the officials would let more go than many officials there was a lot of stuff that Brandon gets called for that he didn't get called for in this game and that was huge. When was the last we went an entire half without turning the ball over. If I didn't see the stats i would have never guessed Kobe had 21 he didn't force a bunch of shots which he has in the past.

Hopefully they continue to build from this and start to make a run for the next month to build a little momentum for the tournament.

Western beat Oral Roberts 82-56.

Dalan Ancrum led the Western scoring with 25 points. Kobe Webster had 21. Brandon Gilbeck had 15. C.J. Duff had 10.

Western shot 53% for the game (29 of 55) and went 17 for 19 at the free throw line.

Attendance for the Family Day game at Western Hall = 712.

Coach actually coached a little bit.. Putting Morgan in the game was smart. Ancrum played ok, he finally got some calls, and hit freethrows.
He scores we can win. . It opens it up for Kobe. Morgan opens it up for Gilbeck. I like that lineup.

It was refreshing to see the dual bigs in the lineup. Right out of the Ripley Believe it or Not book, Morgan actually led the team in assists with 3 yesterday. If we could always get 8 or 10 points from him, he would be a mainstay. BUT, Billy says it is all about those matchups. ORU comes with a big albeit terrible front line so that is the direction he goes against them. Next game we could be back to the 4 guard lineup. I guess we could argue back and forth about whether a set rotation is preferable (i.e. we are always throwing our best at you, try and beat us) or the matchup system works best.

FYI, James Claar, another big, is redshirting this year and I believe will have two years left so I think we are moving in the direction of a more conventional lineup for next year with 2 guards, 2 beefy forwards, and a center.

The way I look at it, the conventional lineup makes it more difficult for an opponent to shut you down (i.e. you have several ways to put points on the board). Those 3s are not going to fall every night for you.

At the two Men's games this week, the Leatherneck Anthem "Neck Up" was replaced with the more generic "Let's Get Ready to Rumble".
