I will go out on a limb and answer my own question with a NO if you go only 7 deep like we did last nite.

The Peoria Journal-Star was on target with their prediction. They had South Dakota State as a 10-point favorite.

The final score was 71-61.

The QC-Times had no prediction and not even a final score in the college games (local or otherwise) section. We are not even an afterthought up here in the Quad Citeis, even with a satellite campus in Moline. Of for those days when Thom Cornelis would bring along a camera crew down to Macomb.

Just watched a replay of WQAD-tV sports from last nite. No mention of either of yesterday's game scores there either. Yet I did get to watch a lot of replays of Augie men, women, and numerous high school games (including one involving my old HS who was playing in Kewannee).

That is just a sign of the times.

The advent of digital television has brought 5 new commercial television stations to Quincy.

In the analog days, Quincy had just two tv stations: WGEM for NBC and KHQA for CBS. That meant that channels for Fox, the CW, and ABC had to come out of the Quad Cities.

But with digital tv, all of the networks now have a Quincy station. As a result of that cable, satellite, and streaming services have dropped the Quad Cities tv stations from their line-up in the Macomb area.

The only way to get a Quad Cities tv station now is through a roof-top antenna.

With few local viewers now in the Macomb area, there is little incentive for the QC stations to cover anything about Macomb.

Your points are valid for TV outlets but are we even getting any game video shown on Quincy stations? As for print media, is someone in AD calling in the scores to them or just going with the Illinois AP and hoping everyone picks it up from there? Apparently, these AP stories are all created automatically using Aritificial Intelligence/Natural Language Processing techniques. No human in the loop. Yea, I know, who cares except a techie like me. Well, any human who wrote the story would have included a few words about the valiant comeback that had all Jack fans biting their nails but came up a bit short.

KHQA and WGEM usually have someone at the games shooting video for the 10 PM Sports.

I saw Chris Duerr (longtime KHQA sports guy) walking into Western Hall on Thursday for the double-header.

David Sugarman (weekend WGEM Sports anchor) and Tate Heiple (Sunday KHQA Sports anchor) have both been at games this season.

Leathernecks’ rally comes up short against SDSU.

Brendan Reidy does an admirable job on the telecast. But he was off by one in this artcle. We got to within a single point late in the game.

I think when a team makes a great comeback as we did, it is important to take timeouts at the right time. I know it's tough because you think the momentum is all going our way but you have to give the guys some time to catch their breath and let the other team think and start to worry a bit. We were short on time outs and had to take an undesirable one when Duff I believe got trapped under the bucket. Just seemed like we fizzled out when we got close but we made it an interesting game for sure.
