Down 43-34 at half. Bison are impressive. They take advantage of every defensive lapse. All of them are good shooters.

Bison prevail 78-67. I will declare it a moral victory. We stayed close and within reach until the very end. Better team won both of these games. Stat that sticks out to me is our assists. Not enough of them, and because of that, guys have to work to hard to create their own shot. Bison put up 16 assists and have 6 in double figure scoring so they were sharing the rock very well. We had only 9 assists and 3 in double figures. It wont get any easier in Brookings next week.

Tamell Pearson led the Western scoring with 17 points. Will Carius and Rod Johnson each had 14.

Next games will be the Friday/Saturday (Jan 8/9) series at South Dakota State. Game time will be 7:30 PM on both days.

Effort better, but the Leathernecks lose to the Bison on Sunday.

Is this basically a free year for everyone?

I think so. Given that, JUCO transfer Brookens could lock up the PG position for the next 2 years after this one IF he continues to improve. Watson coming in as a true freshman has 4 years of eligibility after this year. As I see it, you want to minimize the overlap of their playing years to get the most bang for the buck. Of course, I am ignoring the progression rates of the two players in my "logical" thinking. Maybe next year would be Watson's best red-shirt year option.

Yes it's a free year for everyone. Everyone's clock freezes as if the year never happened.
