Necks fall 77-68. Obi took control in last 10 minutes of game. We played a pretty decent 37 minutes of basketball but not enough.
Six of next eight games are on the road. It wont be any easier there.

Painful to watch once again. We are basically half way through conference and have yet to really compete for a second half. If we dont figure something out the season is over in 2 weeks. We go on the road now as well.

As I recall, there was 1:03 left and ORU had ball and 4 point lead with about 20 seconds on shot clock. If we get a stop there, we might have had enough time for two really quick possessions to their one long possession to close out the game without having to foul. Instead, we get a foul on Obi away from ball and send him to the line. Not good clock management IMO.

Oral Roberts outscored Western in the 2nd half 46-30. Western led by 11 early in the 2nd half.

Obi Emegano had 30 points for Oral Roberts.

Garret Covington led the Western scoring with 22 points. Jalen Chapman had 11. J.C. Fuller had 10.

Another large free-throw differential:
Oral Roberts shot 30 (made 19).
Western shot 13 (made 10).

Attendance at Western Hall was 1,077.

Obi does is dirty again lol.

Judging by free throws, still no inside game or attacking the basket. Sad.

Have we ever seen Gilbeck, Stensgaard, and Chapman all on the court at the same time? Might be worth a shot to see if we play a little more physical around the hoop.

Started off strong this time, but it seemed like things really started to fall apart when ORU started pushing the tempo of the game in the 2nd quarter. Felt like the team was getting "flustered" and giving up dumb turnovers and stuff.

Feels like if we can't win these last two games, against teams that are fairly mediocre in the conference, at home, with 1k people in the stands and the pep band...we're not likely to win many more games at all the rest of the season. Ft. Wayne, Omaha, the Dak State's...all doing pretty well this season. Thankfully USD isn't doing that well either, and we'll have them at home in the last game of the season...so we might win that one.

On the plus side, the band got a nice compliment on facebook ;)
(and honestly, if she thought that was rude, she's apparently never seen a college pep band...or student section...or group of opposing fans ever)

I dont mind rude in a fun sort of way. Not sure what went on but we probably could've had some fun with Scott Sutton and his plaid sport jacket last night. When rudeness crosses that line and becomes personal in nature I do have a problem with it. Worst case of rudeness I every witnessed was back when Obi was here and we were playing at Evansville. Those kids were totally brutal to the point where Obi was hiding his head on the bench beneath a towel. Another one comes to mind in Western Hall during pre-game warmups when some students were questioning Nate Wolters sexual prowess. Leave that stuff in the dorm room before showing up.

Next game against USD is critical. If we can scratch out a win there, we might be able to stay within tournament reach. The schedule Gods are doing us no favors this year. A long stretch of mostly road games followed by three games at home against two good teams which will be jockeying for tournament top seeds. If we dont be USD in Vermillion, I doubt that last game against them at home will have any meaning in life.
