7-11 overall, 0-7 in the conference, lost the last 9 straight....it is what it is

A little different scheduling this week, with games on Friday and Sunday rather than the usual Thursday and Saturday. Looks like the team is spending the weekend in the Hoosier state.

Friday, January 29 at IUPUI - tipoff at noon
The Jaguars are 9-13 overall, 5-2 in the conference. They have conference wins over USD, SDSU, Western, Denver, and IPFW. Losses against Omaha and Oral Roberts. Full schedule here: http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketb ... le/_/id/85
Game will be available on ESPN3

Sunday, January 31 at Fort Wayne - tipoff at 1 PM
IPFW is 16-6 overall, 5-2 in the conference. They have conference wins over Oral Roberts, USD, Denver, Omaha, and NDSU. Losses against USD and IUPUI. They will have one game prior to our matchup with them, playing at Oral Roberts on Thursday. Full schedule here: http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketb ... /_/id/2870

Not even going to make predictions or analysis at this point. I'm not a basketball expert, so I have no idea what we need to do to win, but I know it's not what we're doing currently. Still hoping we can take a few games and not be shut out of the conference tournament.

We have not won a conference road game since 1/30/2014 against IUPUI. Maybe almost two years to the day, history will once again repeat itself. Why is winning on the road so difficult? Not just for us, but for most teams.

Is it the grind of the long bus rides? The unfamiliarity of the mattresses in the hotels? The hostility of the crowd? Larry Brown has some interesting thoughts:

I agree with #4 alot. It is a frame of mind you have to put yourself in. You must want to be the one to nail the 3 at crunch time to silence that crowd.

Maybe playing earlier in the day will mean they have more energy in the second half of the game.

IUPUI was up 12 at one point, but a couple of 3s and a tough 2 near the end by Covington pulls Western within 5 at halftime at IUPUI.
Western down 36-31.

Despite 11 TO's Wiu only trails 31 to 36 @ the half Covington 8 pts late in the half has 11 overall been getting killed by IUPUI big kid.

Western down by 1 with 15 seconds left, took a TO.
Tried to take the ball in but called for traveling with 2 seconds left.
IUPUI inbounds and is fouled with 1.5 seconds left. They make 1 of the 2 and Western gets the rebound with an immediate TO.
1.1 seconds left, Western's ball.

Inbound, long shot off too late that misses and Western loses again. This time by 2 points, 69-67.

To many TO's in the 1st 10 min but a much better overall game if they continue to play like that they will win a conference game soon.
