Western vs Illinois State.
7PM, Tuesday (Dec 20) at Western Hall.
It will be "HOLIDAY CELEBRATION" night.

Western is now on semester break, so the students are gone. And Macomb High School has a home boy's basketball game tonight vs Liberty. That will have an impact on tonight's crowd.

Illinois State has a 3-6 record. But they have had 3 of their starters out with injuries. They are now back and ready to play tonight. Illinois State was picked to finish 8th (out of 10) in the Missouri Valley Conference.

The heat is on their coach Barb Smith. She was recently given a salary advancement to $225,000 per year. The local fans in B-N have not been happy with the performance so far this season.

Illinois State has dominated the series 42-3 all-time. But Western won last year's game 79-64 (12-28-15).

Oh my, I just saw the ladies in bound at ISU end and throw 2 quick passes leading to an easy layup with nary a dribble to be found. Thing of beauty.

That is great having 7 intrastate games on the schedule. 7-0 should give the Leathernecks an advantage recruiting.

That sideline break the ladies ran is something I am sure they practice day after day. Basically getting one of those breaks for a bucket just demoralizes a team trying to press full court. My teams use to work through sideline and regular breaks as a part of conditioning at the end of practice with the goal a basket every 5 seconds. You have got to practice this................just to get it to work once in a ball game. I love the women's style of aggressive defense and offense. They still take some shots that seem a bit quick to my style but that has certainly become their MO! I was just happy to see the women walk away with a win at Chicago State. The Cougars have been close in a lot of games and it is very very tough to keep the "edge" against a team that happens to be 0-10. You can remind them all you want but its just tough to play on the road against a "bloodied" Cougar. The four point win definitely gave JD some points to ponder and discuss with his team. Time for a rest and then on to Fort Wayne and Indy. ;) jc
