Florida State keeps winning. They were down by 17 points (21-4) in Saturday's game. But they rallied back to beat Oregon State 66-53 in a Sweet Sixteen battle in the Stockton, Cal Regional.

Attendance at the Stockton Arena = 4,500.

Florida State will now play South Carolina on Monday for the Regional championship and a trip to the Final Four.

FSU looking strong. The ladies might have drawn the second toughest match up in the bracket behind UConn.

Hmmm, I thought I posted something about FSU winning last night, but apparently it didn't go through.

Anyway, Oregon State gave up 66 points to Florida State. Doesn't seem like a ton, but for a big defensive team like OSU, it's kinda a big deal. OSU gave up more than 65 points only 5 other times this season (4 if you're counting just the standard 4 quarters of the game):

Lost 74-73 to Marquette on 11/22
Won 73-70 over #9 Washington on 1/1
Won 72-69 over #10 Stanford in 2 OT (they were tied at 51 points at the end of regulation, so really it took 2 overtimes for them to get past 65 points) on 1/8
Lost 66-56 to #17 UCLA on 1/13
Lost 70-50 to USC on 2/10

OSU was 6th in D1 in Scoring Defense, giving up an average of 54.4 points per game over the course of the season.

The four "elite eight" games are today and tomorrow, all being aired on ESPN:
Lexington Regional - #1 Notre Dame vs #2 Stanford, currently being played (as of late Sunday morning)
Oklahoma City Regional - #1 Baylor vs #2 Mississippi State, tonight (3/26) at 6:30 PM
Bridgeport Regional - #1 UConn vs #10 Oregon, Monday evening at 6 PM
Stockton Regional - #1 South Carolina vs #3 Florida State, Monday evening at 8 PM

Oh, yea, ok...I see it now. Must have just missed it when I was looking back through.

Anyway, yup, FSU is the real deal this year. They have a good chance at being in the championship game, since it looks like UConn and Baylor will likely be facing off in the semifinal game and the talent level on the other side of the bracket seems about even among the higher ranked teams.

Oh well, spoke too soon.

South Carolina was ahead pretty much the entire game, although FSU battled back within 3 points near the end, but USC won 71-64. Still, obviously a very tough team we were up against in the first round.
