For those who may not have seen it yet, Ashley Luke is this year's Lincoln Laureate recipient for Western.

This is an annual award given to one senior student at each of the 4-year degree institutions in Illinois. This award is open to all senior students, not just athletes.

You can view previous award winners for each university here: http://www.thelincolnacademyofillinois. ... by_college

The 2009 award winner was also an athlete, Leatherneck Football QB, Matt Barr. Also, the 2003 award winner, Whitney Wooderchak, was a member of the Marching Leathernecks (as was her older sister, Ali).

Scott; Is Ashley Luke a senior? She is listed in the roster as a junior. I am certain that the competition in the Summit would like to think she is a senior.

Ashley Luke has 2 years of eligibility left.

This is her 4th year in college. She had one year at UW-Green Bay where she was a redshirt freshman.

Yea, junior in terms of NCAA eligibility, but a senior in academic terms. It looks like she's planning to get a masters in economics while finishing up her playing eligibility.

Since the award she received is an academic award open to all seniors, not just athletes, they use the academic definition.

Ashley Luke was named as one of ESPN's 10 Mid-Major Players to Watch. Here's a link in case no one has seen it.

It's exciting to see her recognized at a national level.
