Eagles are off this weekend. Ginger Jesus (aka Carson Wentz) makes a second coming guest appearance in the Fargodome tomorrow. Add about 10 points to the Bison total and subtract about 7 from the Yotes.

Carson approaching 2000 PAGES of posts on Bisonville. Biblical numbers.
Embrace the pace of the race.

I just think NDSU is going to crush USD in this situation.

#12 Weber State beating Portland State, 63-17 with just over 7 minutes left in the game
#11 Stony Brook beat Wagner, 38-10
#10 South Dakota lost to #4 North Dakota State, 49-14
#9 Southern Utah beating UC Davis, 21-0 about halfway through the 2nd quarter
#8 Wofford beats VMI, 45-14
#7 Elon loses to #27 New Hampshire, 16-6
#6 Sam Houston State beats Abilene Christian, 44-35

That SHSU score is interesting, ACU was up by 4 with under 5 minutes left, before putting up a couple more scores near the end to win. They also barely beat a bad (3-6) Northwestern State team. So...yea...they've only lost 1 game, but they've had a really low strength of schedule, and they're struggling against some pretty mediocre teams (ACU is 2-8 now).

It looks like two teams will drop, we'll move up, probably be around #10 or #11 in next week's AGS poll. So, a few more losses from teams ahead of us and a dominating performance against SIU and we'll be right about where we need to be.

I'm not that surprised actually. ISU is a good team and we just played phenomenally well against them (I think the second half was probably our best played half in the season). It's one of those situations where we just don't match up well with a team like SDSU (a good passing team), but we do matchup well with ISU (a strong running team). Our run defense is a lot better.

SDSU and ISU both have good pass defenses and somewhat weak run defenses.

So, the team that gets the advantage from that is the one that has the stronger running game...ISU. Overall, SDSU is a better team that ISU and it was up in Brookings.

My "mental math" estimation goes kinda like this:
SDSU is about a 7-10 point better team overall than ISU on a neutral field...that's just from the "eyeball test" seeing them both play in person and vs other teams, and knowing their general rankings.
ISU gets +7 for having the matchup advantage of a strong run game against SDSU's weaker run defense.
SDSU's offensive strength (pass) going against ISU's defensive strength (pass) cancels out...0 points either way for that.
That puts the game at about a 3 point SDSU advantage...on a neutral field. Home field gets you either 3 more or winning in OT.
Hence my pick in my article of SDSU winning by a TD. They didn't...they went to OT and won on a FG.

Maybe I should have given ISU a few points for having their backs against the wall and needing a win to get into the playoffs ;)
